Women's World Cup 2025: The International Cricket Council took a big step to take women's cricket to new heights and on Monday, September 1, announced a record prize money for the Women's World Cup to be held in India and Sri Lanka. The ICC has set a total prize fund of US $ 13.88 million (about Rs 122.5 crore), which is more than three times the amount of the Women's World Cup held in New Zealand in 2022. At that time the total prize money was $ 3.5 million, while this time it has been increased by 297 percent.

The most important thing is that the winning team will get 4.48 million US dollars (about 39.4 crores rupees), which is more than the amount (4 million dollars) received by the winner of the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup. This step is being considered a historic initiative towards providing equal opportunity and respect to women's cricket.

How much money will the runner-up team get?

The runner-up team will be given 2.24 million US dollars (about Rs 19.71 crore). On the other hand, the teams losing in the semi-finals will get 1.12 million dollars (about Rs 9.8 crore). Every team playing in the group stage will get Rs 2.2 crore as participation bonus. Apart from this, an additional reward of about Rs 30 lakh has been fixed for each win.

The prize money has also been decided on the basis of ranking. The team coming in fifth place will be given $700,000 (about Rs 6.16 crore), while the team coming in sixth place will be given $280,000 (about Rs 2.46 crore).

Jai Shah called it a historic turning point

ICC Chairman Jay Shah called this announcement a historic turning point for women's cricket. He said that our message is clear that women cricketers should be confident that if they choose this game professionally, they will get the same respect and opportunities as male players. This increase in prize money will become an inspiration for the future generation of female players and fans.

The tournament will begin on September 30 at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati, where India will play its first match against Sri Lanka. It is expected that this event will not only give commercial recognition to women's cricket but will also increase its popularity worldwide.
